Okay, some news.

The alpha release will be on Monday. Unfortunately, Heather and I didn’t get together until the last minute and I realized the release date overlapped with some server maintenance so they’ll be outages and whatnot going on this weekend. I decided it would be best to have the download on Monday so gobs of people wouldn’t be hitting the server when it was already trying to do a lot of work for the maintenance. Also, there will be outages and perhaps corrupted download and I really didn’t feel like watching my inbox fill up with thousands of messages about how blueprint wouldn’t download for you. And, please do not email me asking for me to send you a copy. It’s just not going to happen. You’ll have to wait. Besides, gives me the weekend to do a last minute check of everything. I’ve been running around like a chicken with my head cut off working on this thing and sometimes you can’t see the forest for the trees.

The latest diary entry has some information about the object creation process and some secret news about the alpha release. If you’re interested check it out.

The mailing lists for blueprint and the technical list have been disbanded. It was a pretty clear decision to drop these and this frees up my time for other things. Please use the online forums now.

The icon contest is closed and after the release I’ll show off the winners (the winning icon will be included in the release though). Thanks to everyone who sent in icons. Watch for more “You do the work” contests in the future.

SDK updates will be sometime next week with Simplorer fixes to come soon. An SSB release will be within the month as well.

Tutorials will come shortly after the release (I’ll put some together Tuesday or Wednesday of next week) if you’re having problems finding your way around. I’ll setup a page with links to 3D software (both free and commercial) and places to find free 3D meshes you can use to create new objects with.

That’s about it. I’ll be in the forums this weekend and on ICQ but don’t go into anaphalectic shock if I don’t respond immediately.
