Huh? Okay, so there I was looking through some messages about silly disclaimers when I realized something. A lot of email systems attach some disclaimer like this to the end of their messages:
“This message contains privileged and confidential information intended only
for the use of the addressee named above. If you are not the intended
recipient of this message, you are hereby notified that you must not
disseminate, copy, or take any action in reliance on it. If you have
received this message in error, please notify …”
Okay, fair enough. Cover your ass and all that jazz. However I’m finding an alarming number of these messages posted in newsgroups. Public newsgroups. Public newsgroups that you can find via Google like in this link.
So someone please explain to me how people can keep posting messages that “confidential” and intended only for specific addressee in publicly accessible newsgroups? Oh well.
