An interesting link today. Daniel Baird, the creator of the original blueprint splash screen, has put together his version of SimShow called iSim Skiner (guess that should be skinner, but I’m just the messenger). Armed with a copy of Resource Hacker, he went about moving things and altering the layout and look’n'feel of SimShow. I’m not sure how “legal” his copy is but if you’re looking for a bit of change you can give it a try. It’s still the same Maxis program underneath the covers, just with new window dressings. Looks pretty neat IMO. You can find his site here and download the program directly from this link. Please note, you will not get any support for using this program from Maxis (even less than what they provide for SimShow now) as it’s not their creation so caveat emptor.

Well, the chat is over. Argh. My humble apologies.

Things really didn’t go very well as far as a chat goes, IMO. First off, the questions were being asked by a moderator then typed out by a typist at their end. Of course, if anyone can imagine it’s pretty near impossible to compose a paragraph of coherent thought in your head without seeing what you’re saying. Especially when the typist was stopping mid-sentence to ask for spelling confirmations. ARGH!

Second, I had no idea the chat site was inaccessible to non-US people. It’s something to do with the entire site, not just the chat. Of course, being in Canada I couldn’t even get into my own chat! Sigh.

So I apologize to everyone not in the US or who couldn’t make the chat. I’m not sure what I said or what it came out as but they’re emailing me a transcript of the chat which I’ll be posting here later. Thanks to everyone who did drop by. I think things were interesting as we covered topics like comic books, the railway, game design and of course, The Sims.

Over at Paladin’s Place they’ve released the SimCategorizer that will allow you to organize your objects into the new Hot Date sub-catagories (a very cool feature IMO). The program also allows you to flag objects for the downtown section and lets you edit existing room and function flags. Very slick and something that was needed by the Sims community (that’s you guys). Great work from SimWardrobe.
