Welcome to Thursdays somewhat non-Sims related post. I was off surfing on Slashdot tonight and found a thread about the history of Usenet (you know, newsgroups) and how they had a page outlining some of the historic moments in Usenet postings. Everything from the first mention of Microsoft to AIDS and the first internet worm. You can view the Usenet history page here.

Anyways, I decided to do some advanced searching of my own and found this little gem from (gasp) 1990. Yup, almost 12 years ago I posted this message on Usenet. Yes it was a lame message about Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. The post actually came from a BBS I ran in Toronto through FidoNet. Another rather silly message can be found here. As you can see, I was still as sarcastic as ever back in the ‘old’ days.

Also for you purists out there, you can find the first mention (by Will himself) of Edith, although he doesn’t mention the name, here. I thought it was amusing it was in the same thread where it mentioned blueprint. Here’s what Will had to say back in early 2000:

Actually we are working on a releasing our object programming system. I want to get it cleaned up a bit and documented first. Otherwise everyone will complain about how we released a buggy programming system with no documentation. Hopefully we’ll have something ready in about a month.

He does call it by name here along with (again) talking about blueprint about a month earlier than the previous post.

Anyways, I thought it was interesting to find.
